How the calculator works

First, you tell Pool Clarity about your pool: the shape, size (or just enter the volume if you know it), and what type of sanitizer you use. This only takes a minute and you do it once.

Then you enter your test strip or test kit readings. You don't have to enter all of them. Enter whatever your test kit measures. Pool Clarity analyzes each parameter, tells you what's in range and what isn't, then gives you specific dosing instructions.

Instead of "add acid to lower pH," you get "add 14 oz of muriatic acid (31.45%). Pour slowly along the deep end with the pump running. Wait 4 hours and retest." The amounts are calculated for your pool's actual volume, not a generic reference chart.

What the calculator covers

pH adjustment: Muriatic acid dosing to lower pH, or soda ash to raise it. Accounts for your current alkalinity since TA affects how much acid you need.

Chlorine dosing: Liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) amounts to bring free chlorine to target. Shock dosing calculations when combined chlorine is high.

Alkalinity correction: Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to raise total alkalinity. Muriatic acid to lower it, with the proper acid-and-aerate method explained.

Calcium hardness: Calcium chloride dosing to raise hardness and protect pool surfaces from aggressive water.

Stabilizer (CYA): Cyanuric acid amounts to bring your stabilizer into the protective range. Plus warnings when CYA is too high and the only fix is a partial drain.

Salt level: Pool salt amounts for saltwater chlorine generators, with the target dialed to your generator's recommended range.

Why generic calculators fall short

Most online pool calculators give you a dose "per 10,000 gallons" and leave you to do the math. If your pool is 14,500 gallons, you're guessing. And they don't account for the interactions between chemicals. Adjusting alkalinity affects pH. High CYA changes how much chlorine you need. Water temperature affects chemical behavior.
